The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz has sent a cable of congratulations to Indonesia's President Megawati Sukarno Putri on the anniversary of her country's independence. In his own name and on behalf of the people and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Fahd wished the president permanent health and happiness and the Indonesian people steady progress and prosperity. The monarch also lauded the excellent relations binding the two friendly countries and their peoples.
