The 19-nation eurozone economy grew by 0.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared to the previous quarter, the EU's statistics office said Thursday, according to dpa. Seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) growth was 0.3 per cent for the 28-member European Union, Eurostat said. Those figures are the same as the third quarter, for both the eurozone and the EU as a whole. Year-on-year fourth quarter GDP growth was 1.2 per cent in the eurozone and 1.5 per cent in the broader EU, down from 1.7 per cent and 1.9 per cent, respectively, in the previous quarter. Eurostat also provided a preliminary estimate of annual growth for 2018, showing GDP growth of 1.8 per cent in the eurozone and 1.9 per cent in the entire EU.
