Makkah Region Development Authority has reached the final stages of working on manufacturing buses within the public transport project in Makkah. The manufacturing and supply phase will be completed by the end of 2019 and the actual operation will be in the beginning of 2020. The first phase of the project will operate 400 smart buses, including 240 regular buses with a capacity of 40 seats and 160 articulated buses with a capacity of 60 seats to move and serve pilgrims, Umrah performers and residents of Makkah. The internal and external bus services include driver navigation systems, electronic payment systems, services for people with special needs, Wi-Fi for passengers and other advanced services.
