MAKKAH — Makkah Development Authority (MDA) has invited six national and international consortiums to submit public tenders for the implementation of the first phase of the holy city's public transportation project. Mayor of Makkah Osama Al-Bar said Emir of Makkah Province Prince Mishal Bin Abdullah has approved the final list of the qualified consortiums. He said a 10-year contract will be signed with the winning company to import, operate and maintain 400 buses. He said 240 buses will be 12 meters long while others will be double-deckers. The mayor said the buses, which will operate for 20 hours a day in the first phase, will use four special tracks covering a total of 300 kilometers.
