Advisor-Royal Court and General Supervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, announced today the launch of the "Imdaad" initiative to bridge the humanitarian needs gap in Yemen and provide additional support of US $ 500 million in equal shares between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The announcement came during a press conference held today at the Center's headquarters in the presence of the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Alhashemi. Dr. Al Rabeeah added that this came in response to the food crisis in Yemen, to help close the gap of the urgent food needed for the people of Yemen and to ensure the alleviation of the suffering of Yemeni people and their access to food and nutrition for children in all regions. In continuation to the support, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have contributed to the United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan 2018 an amount of USD 1.250 billion in addition to the direct humanitarian aid by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Emirates Red Crescent and other coalition states already being provided. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are launching "The Supply Initiative in Response to the Food Crisis in Yemen" to support 10-12 million affected Yemenis at a total cost of USD 500 million as an additional assistance in equal share by the two countries. This initiative comes to address the humanitarian needs in the sectors of food and nutrition and through UN, international, regional and local organizations.
