The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stressed the importance of the political solution to the Syrian crisis, based on Geneva Declaration of 2012 and Security Council resolution 2254, establishing a transitional authority and forming a constitutional assembly to draft a new constitution guaranteeing freedom, equality and justice for all Syrian citizens. This came in the Kingdom's statement delivered yesterday by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahiya Al-Muallemi in front of the 3rd Committee of the United Nations on item (47 C) on the promotion and protection of human rights: human rights situations and reports of the rapporteurs and Special Representatives - draft resolution Situation of human rights in the Syrian Arab Republic.
