The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations reviewed violations by Houthi militia in recruiting children in Yemen. In a speech to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva today, the coalition said that most of UN reports, such as UNICEF and other local human rights organizations, have confirmed that the proportion of child soldiers fighting in the side of Houthis constitutes half of the militia fighters, in violations of children rights in safety and education. The Coalition warned of the physical and psychological abuse of thousands of children through the military recruitment, confirming that there are no serious responses to prevent this phenomenon, which violates international humanitarian and criminal law. The Coalition said that there are insufficient programs or initiatives to reintegrate child soldiers into society, calling the Human Rights Council to intervene to protect the Yemeni child from recruitment.
