King Salman Center for Disability Research participates in Meeting of States Parties of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at United Nations Headquarters
The King Salman Center for Disability Research, headed by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Tammadr bint Yousif Al-Ramah participated here today in the activities of the 11th Meeting of the States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The participation emphasizes the Center's role, highlighting its community message, projects and services to support the empowerment and integration of people with disabilities through scientific research in partnership with many governmental and private sectors. The Center has also reviewed the efforts in supporting the empowerment of people with disabilities through the introduction of the Universal Access Program as one of the important national programs implemented by the Center and approved by the Council of Ministers aimed at creating a barrier-free environment and enabling persons with disabilities to communicate and use modern facilities and technology. The Director of Research and Training at the Center Dr. Ali bin Nasser Al-Odhaib said that a number of important research programs and projects implemented by the Center were reviewed, such as the National Health and Life Stress Program, the draft framework for applying general education curricula to students with disabilities, and the program of genetic description of diseases that cause disability such as blindness.
