Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Dughr met here today with US Ambassador to Yemen Matthew Toler. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and the reviewed their country's points of view on a number of issues and developments of mutual concern, as well as developments at the national scene, including international efforts to achieve peace. The meeting underscored the danger of the Iranian role in the region and the importance of putting an end to its interference and flagrant violations of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 and its continuing provision for the Houthi militias with ballistic missiles targeting the Kingdom of saudi Arabia and threatening the international navigation. The Yemeni Prime Minister expressed the appreciation of the Yemeni government and people for the American perception of the destructive role of Iran in destabilizing the region and the world and its direct contribution to prolonging the war in Yemen by providing qualitative various support for the Al-Huthi militias. Bin Dughr stressed that Iran gambles the life and blood of Yemenis to blackmail neighboring countries and the international community, and its desperate attempt within the framework of its expansionist project to control Bab Al-Mandab Strait to threaten the safety of global navigation. For his part, US Ambassador reiterated his country's support for Yemen's legitimacy and its concern for the security, stability and unity of Yemen, highlighting the US administration's awareness of the dangerous Iranian role in supporting the Houthis and its subversive activities in the region. Toler praised the role of the Yemeni government in the fight against terrorism, stressing that his country will provide all necessary support for these efforts in the framework of the existing partnership between the two countries and peoples.
