UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen confirmed its response to the call from the High Relief Committee in Yemen for the relief of Socotra province and sent a team to identify the needs. Acting Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Oki Lutsma said in a letter sent to the Minister of Local Administration and Chairman of the Yemeni Higher Relief Committee, Abdulraqib Fateh, that the office provided urgently 10 tons of relief and therapeutic materials, 1000 kits of shelter, 4000 hygiene items and 35 containers of drinking water, and continued coordination in the provision of humanitarian support for the relief of those affected by the cyclone. For his part, Fateh stressed the keenness of the Yemeni government to provide support and care for those affected by the cyclone in the affected coastal provinces, and coordination with donors to provide more relief support to the population to alleviate their suffering.
