The 11th Session of the Permanent Committee on Information and Cultural Affairs (COMIAC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) approved today in a meeting in Senegal's capital of Dakar the working plan on Implementation of Cultural Strategy in the presence of the Presedent of the Republic of Senegal Macky Sall, who is also President of COMIAC, and the minsters concerned with culture and information affairs in OIC Member state. In a key speech at the opening session, President Sall expressed appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his leadership and initiatives through King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Dialogue between Religions and Cultures in Vienna, stressing that Islam calls for moderation, respect for neighborliness and peaceful coexistence among peoples. For his part, the Secretary-General of the Jeddah-based OIC Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, said the cultural strategic plan aims to promote and highlight the values and cultural potentials in the Islamic world, especially in alleviating and dispelling fear of Islam, pointing out that the General Secretariat of the organization is working on a mechanism to encourage anti-terrorism production of literature and films.
