The 10th session of the OIC Standing Committee for Information and Cultural Affairs (COMIAC) themed "Role of the Youth and Media for Peace and Stability in the Muslim World" will begin in the Senegalese capital, Dakar on Tuesday, 28 April 2015. The session which will be inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Senegal and Chairman of COMIAC, President Macky Sall, will be attended by the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Iyad Ameen Madani, and several ministers in charge of information and cultural affairs in OIC Member States. The two-day session will discuss a number of issues, notably, dialogue among civilizations and cultures and the efforts of the OIC General Secretariat and organs in this regard and the role of the Muslim world media in supporting the cause of Al-Quds and Palestine. Other issues are ways of improving joint Islamic action institutions and strengthening their role in projecting the true image of Islam, combating stereotypes about Islam and Muslims, raising the world's awareness to the dangers of pervasive Islamophobia and how to counter it. Also slated for discussion is how to enhance COMIAC and strengthen its coordination role.
