Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani met here today the United Nations' Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith. During the meeting, they discussed the consultations being conducted by the United Nations envoy with the parties concerned with the Yemeni crisis to discuss ways of resuming political negotiations to reach a political solution to end the conflict in Yemen. Dr. Al-Zayani assured the support of the GCC countries for the efforts of the UN Envoy to Yemen, and their constant keenness to reach a political solution according to the Gulf initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC), and Security Council resolution No. 2216 to stop the bloodshed in Yemen, and maintain its security, stability, sovereignty, and provide aid for the Yemeni people to alleviate their sufferings due to the current crisis. The meeting was attended by Envoy of GCC Secretary General to Yemen Medkhel bin Dhakhil Al-Hathli and GCC Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Owaisheq.
