The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries welcomed the statement issued by the meeting of the Quartet Committee for peace in Yemen, which was held in Riyadh in the presence of the foreign ministers members of the committee, which are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and the United Kingdom with the participation of Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman and the envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations to Yemen. Secretary General of the GCC Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said in a statement: "The GCC countries support the Quartet's efforts to encourage all parties to return to the negotiating table to bring about comprehensive peace in the Republic of Yemen. They commend the contents of the statement that the proposed initiative from the United Nations will be the basis for the resumption of negotiations in order to reach a political solution in accordance with the relevant terms of reference, which are the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outputs of the conference of the comprehensive national dialogue and the Security Council resolutions relevant to the Yemeni affairs." Al-Zayani said the Gulf Cooperation Council countries stress their support for brotherly Yemen, and they hope that the Quartet's efforts will result in a cease-fire in Yemen, the resumption of peace negotiations, and the delivery of humanitarian relief assistance to the Yemeni people in all the provinces to alleviate their suffering.
