Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, affirmed the commitment of the (GCC) to protect the Yemeni people, support their legitimate government and save them from the Houthi militias that violate all international laws, stressing that the militias target civilians and impede the access of humanitarian aid to them. The Iranian-backed ballistic missiles threaten the neighboring countries and the navigation movement in the Red Sea and jeopardize the international peace and security, he said. This came in a speech to the high-level international conference in support of the relief plan for the Republic of Yemen, kicked off yesterday at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, in the presence of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and representatives of the countries supporting Yemen. The GCC Secretary General commended the efforts exerted by the United Nations, major sponsors and major donors to hold this humanitarian conference, reiterating the GCC commitment to meet the humanitarian and developmental needs of the Yemeni people, based on ties of neighborliness and common destiny.
