His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Defense, met at the UN headquarters in New York with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest and the Kingdom's contribution to various United Nations programs in support of humanitarian and development efforts and their role in the maintenance of international peace and security in partnership with the United Nations. The Secretary General of the United Nations expressed his appreciation for the Kingdom's humanitarian contributions in the world and to the Yemeni people, its support and funding of the humanitarian response plan in Yemen, and called on countries to contribute to this humanitarian effort. He also renewed his condemnation of the targeting of ballistic missiles by the Houthi militia. The Crown Prince and the Secretary General attended the signing of the joint executive program between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Nations represented by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs for the purpose of supporting and financing the United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen for the year 2018. The donors were represented by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber, the Executive Director of the Comprehensive Humanitarian Support Center in Yemen, and the United Nations by its Assistant Secretary General and Financial Controller Ms. Bettina Tucci Partisotas. The agreement includes $ 1 billion from the Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, including $ 930 million to United Nations organizations and $ 70 million to rehabilitate ports and roads to increase the volume of relief items and commercial imports. The meeting was attended by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States of America, and other officials.
