Switzerland and Sweden, the two sponsors of the donor conference for Yemen, expressed their thanks to and appreciation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for their contribution of about $1 billion to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. The donation, by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, represents one-third of Yemen's humanitarian needs, said Swiss Vice President Ueli Maurer, whose country is patronizing the donors' conference in Yemen with Sweden. He called on the Houthi militias, which control Sanaa, to allow the humanitarian aid access. The Swiss Vice President announced his country's donation of 13 million Swiss francs in response to the humanitarian situation in Yemen, expressing his country's support for the political process in Yemen and the UN efforts envoy Martin Griffiths.
