A magnitude-6.8 earthquake hit south-east Bolivia on Monday, near the country's border with Paraguay, a seismological centre in La Paz reported. The earthquake occurred at 9:40 am (1340 GMT) in the department of Chuquisaca. The quake took place in the vicinity of the town of Carandaiti, in Bolivia's Chaco region. It occurred at a depth of 557 kilometres. "The earthquake was felt in tall buildings in the city of Sucre," the seismological centre's spokesman reported. "No damage was reported in the earthquake zone.
