Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic cooperation Dr. Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen has emphasized that the organization supports women roles in the development of community, highlights her contributions in many fields and helps them to overcome the difficulties and challenges they are facing to get their rights. In a press statement on the occasion of the International Women's Day (IWD), the OIC Secretary General said that the armed conflicts and wars in a number of countries caused women's suffering, calling the member states for more cooperation to enhance women's involvement in all fields. Dr. Al-Othaimeen also pointed out that, despite challenges facing them, women have been able to balance between their role in the community and their educational and social responsibilities as well as their personal achievements, lauding women around the world, particularly in the conflict zones, crises and wars. The OIC Secretary General added that the OIC will announce the first Goodwill Ambassador in the field of enabling women to defend their rights.
