The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, called for redoubling efforts for supporting Iraq and developing its economy through investment and implementing of plans and projects that would rebuild it. In a speech at the first session of the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq, the GCC Secretary-General said that the GCC countries welcomed the last summit held in Kuwait through the initiative of the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to host the conference, expressing their support for Iraqi government in its efferts to combat terrorism and underscoring the importance of maintaining the unity and integrity of Iraqi. He expressed thanks to and appreciation of the Amir, the government and the people of Kuwait for their initiative in hosting this international conference for support of Iraq and its people.
