The Shura Council has condemned the U.S. President Donald Trump's decision recognizing Jerusalem as capital of Israel. This came during the 4th ordinary session of the 2nd year under chairmanship of Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh. The council affirmed that this decision represents a bias in the U.S. stance affecting efforts of the peace process. The council added that this decision will affect international peace and security and represents a violation of international law and resolutions issued by the United Nations which confirm that the Arab territories occupied by the Zionist entity in 1967, including Al-Quds, are currently under occupation. The Shura Council pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has previously called for refraining from any international decision concerning the status of Al-Quds in which the international community agreed to the necessity of establishing a Palestinian state with East Al-Quds as its capital. The Council stressed that the region does not need further destabilization in light of the crises suffered by the peoples. The council disclosed that the Palestinian Cause entered a new turning point, which must be resolved in accordance with international resolutions and based on the Arab Peace Initiative, which guarantees establishment of a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.
