Al-Falih Visits Uzbekistan on Sidelines of 51st Meeting of Electrical Power Council of CIS, Meets Ministers of Energy of Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan
Khalid Al-Falih, Saudi Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources and President of the OPEC Conference, visited Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on the sidelines of the 51st meeting of the Electrical Power Council of the CIS. He listened to discussions on energy integration among CIS member countries and was impressed with the efforts of the energy leaders gathered in the Uzbek Capital to improve energy security and sustainability. Al-Falih, on the periphery of the event, held a meeting with the Ministers of Energy of Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan to address the current state of oil markets. The ministers reviewed the progress towards market rebalancing under the Declaration of Cooperation between 24 OPEC and non-OPEC Countries, which includes the three CIS countries Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia as well as Saudi Arabia. The participating countries expressed their satisfaction with the significant drawdown of global inventories, and expressed their commitment to continue with the joint effort. They highlighted, alongside the host country, Uzbekistan, the importance of the effort for market stability and for ensuring timely investments are made into future supply, as well as its important contributions to the global economy and international trade, which benefit producers and consumers alike. A fourth CIS country, Turkmenistan, will be attending the upcoming meeting of the Declaration of Cooperation in Vienna on November 30 as an observer. The ministers thanked the Government of Uzbekistan for its hospitality and for hosting this important meeting.
