The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the cabinet's session held today at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. At the outset of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Cabinet on the outcomes of his audience and talks with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Haydar Al-Abadi, and his affirmation, during his patronage to the opening of the first meeting of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council, on aspirations of the Kingdom that it would contribute to build an effective partnership to achieve the common interest between the two countries and move into wider horizons and to address the serious challenges and attempts to destabilize security and stability in the region in addition to emphasizing the Kingdom's support of the unity and stability in Iraq. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques stressed his keenness for developing and strengthening relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples in all fields, in light of the great potentials available to the two countries which place them in front of a historic opportunity to build an effective partnership to achieve their common aspirations. The Cabinet welcomed the contents of the Joint Statement issued by the first meeting of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council which has reflected the convergence of views, ties of religion, brotherhood and the common destiny, stressing the importance of working to strengthen economic and commercial relations and develop the partnership between the private sector in both countries as well as agreement on opening of border ports and development of ports and roads. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques also briefed the Cabinet on the contents of the messages he sent to the President Abdulaziz Bouteflika of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and President Dr. Fouad Masoum of the Republic of Iraq in addition to outcomes of his audience with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson where they reviewed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in addition to the latest regional and international development.
