Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTA) is working on the digital recording of about 52,000 archaeological objects by the use of a digital map according to the international standards for recording and archiving data related to archaeological, ancient and heritage sites and artifacts. It is worth mentioning that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has already reclaimed these 52,000 artifacts from its inside and outside. The National Project for Digital Recording of Antiquities aims to document and record all sites, antiquities, heritage, historical monuments, ancient artifacts and urban heritage buildings in a comprehensive national digital registry linked to a multi-dimensional digital map, in accordance with modern GIS techniques, digital databases, maps, images and graphics.
