Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has been told to rest because of a virus that could affect his heart if left untreated, according to dpa. A Real Madrid medical report released on Saturday said: "Carvajal has been diagnosed with a viral infection affecting the pericardium." His recovery time will depend on how he responds to complete rest and medication. The pericardium is the double-walled sac enveloping the heart which protects it from shock and infection. Carvajal is only the only player to have played every minute of league football this season for Real Madrid. Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, who is also without both his left backs Marcelo and Theo Hernandez, will miss the right back for Sunday's game against Espanyol. Carvajal will also miss international duty with Spain.
