Riyadh-based King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid has begun in Hadramout Governorate, Yemen, dengue fever training courses for health workers, which will take place in six directorates: Sayoun, Tarim, Shabam, Horeh, Wadi Al Ain, and Sah, it was reported today. The program began its first session in the province of Shaban yesterday, where 30 Yemeni health workers received rapid response training courses on cases of identification and management of dengue fever and anti-virus techniques. During the opening ceremony, Director of the Department of Public Health and Population Dr. Saleh Yazeed bin Talib stressed the importance of raising awareness and informing health workers on how to protect affected communities against dengue fever. For his part, Director of Dengue Fever Project, an affiliate of the Ministry of Public Health and Population Dr. Ghazi Bashamkha said that community awareness is an important part of the health program designed to control potential outbreaks of the virus in Yemen.
