Portugal overcame a missed penalty and an own goal as they claimed a 2-1 comeback victory over Mexico in extra time to finish third at the Confederations Cup on Sunday, dpa reported. Substitute Adrien Silva converted a 104th-minute penalty for the winner after defender Pepe had levelled in stoppage time for Portugal who fell behind from Luis Neto's own goal and had a first spot kick from Andre Silva saved. Both teams ended the game with 10 men as Portugal's Nelson Semedo was dismissed in the 106th and Mexico's Raul Jimenez six minutes later in front of a large crowd of 42,659 at Spartak Stadium. The European champions Portugal placed third on their Confed Cup debut although World Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was already at home to see his newborn twins.
