UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received here today Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh. During the meeting, they discussed a number of Islamic issues and means of promoting the tolerant image of Islam among the young generations of Muslims. The role of preachers and scholars was also discussed in this respect. The minister lauded the contribution of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award in bringing together young Muslim memorizers of the Holy Quran from across the world in an unparalleled competition and in honoring an Islamic personality who offered distinctive services and contributions to Islam and Muslims. The award, which was launched by Sheikh Mohammed more than 20 years ago, seeks to promote moderate Islam among the youth and encourage them to memorize the Holy Quran and comprehend its interpretation in an attractive, friendly and scientific way. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
