The Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Dr. Saeb Erekat, affirmed that the Palestinian people are steadfast and strong in their land and will not allow Israel, the occupying power of Palestine, and those who support it, to uproot and displace them once again, and will not relinquish the national and inalienable rights guaranteed by international law. He added that the Palestinian people's struggle against colonialism will continue to end a long era of injustice, oppression and repression. In a press release on the 50th sad anniversary of the Israeli military occupation of 1967, Erekat stressed the position of the Palestinian people and its leadership in accordance with international law and the international vision of a two-state solution as the only solution to ending the occupation and the embodiment of the independent state of Palestine. He called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to respect and ensure respect for international law, put an end to the Israeli occupation and hold its criminals accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against the Palestinian people over the past 50 years.
