A 7.2-magnitude earthquake rocked the southern Philippines on Saturday, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said, warning of hazardous tsunami waves. The center said that the quake struck at 2023 GMT at a depth of 10 kilometers in the southern region of Mindanao, dpa reported. "Based on the preliminary earthquake parameters ... hazardous tsunami waves are possible for coasts located within 300 kilometers of the earthquake epicenter," it said. The US Geological Survey put the magnitude at 6.8, and said it took place 189 kilometers south-south-west of Davao.
