The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has presented before the United Nations Human Rights Council its achievements in the protection of children's rights at the Council annual meeting on the child held here yesterday evening. In a speech delivered by Saudi Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Wasil, he said that the nation that does not protect its children is a nation without a future, because children are the youth of future , so the Kingdom has given this issue a great importance and enacted laws and regulations concerning with child's rights and protection in all aspects. He further noted that the child in societies represents the promised human energy in the future, and emanating from this point of view, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has approved United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child in 1996, the Labor Organization Convention concerning the Minimum Age for Employment, and the covenant of children's rights in Islam issued by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 2005 regarding the protection of children from domestic violence. --More
