China on Friday launched an experimental reconnaissance satellite called TK-1, state media reported. According to dpa, the satellite, carried by the rocket KT-2, took off at 7.53 am (2353 GMT Thursday) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre, located in the Gobi desert in north-western China. The satellite later entered its intended orbit, Xinhua news agency reported. TK-1 will be used for remote sensing, telecommunications and experiments in minisatellite-based technologies.
