With ten players after its defense Mutaz Hawsawe was sent off in the 47th minute of the first half, Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia turned its one all draw with Zob Ahn of Iran to a 2-1 win at the Omani capital of Muscat's stadium, sending the Jeddah-based club to the top of group C of the Asian champions soccer tournament. Omer Al-Soma, the renowned Syrian striker in the Saudi professionals league, made it two one from a free kick off in the 85th minute. His team-mate Abdulfattah Aseeri opened the scoring at the 28th minute for Al-Ahli before Iranian team's Mahdi Rajab obtained the equalizer from a penalty-area kick. Today's result enhanced Al-Ahli's position on six points, as top of its group, two points above Al-Ain of UAE, the second, after defeating Bonyodkor of Uzbekistan today 3-2. Zob Ahn remains on one point in the third place and Bonyodkor in the bottom of the group.
