The Yemeni government today reiterated its call for Houthi militias to put down weapons and withdraw from capital Sanaa and other cities they are controlling. In its weekly meeting, chaired by Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Dughr, the Yemeni cabinet confirmed its commitment to the references of the peaceful solution and peace to end the war and enforce ceasefire. The Cabinet lauded the recent victories achieved by the national army and the popular resistance, citing the liberation of Al-Makha port city, the strategic port of Midi and their advancing to liberate Al-Hodeida port, noting that the government is keen to bring about permanent and fair peace which would not be achieved except through implementing the remaining parts of the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcome of the national dialogue and the UN Security Council resolutions, particularly No. 2216.
