Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov Monday opened talks between the Syrian regime and opposition aimed at consolidating a shaky ceasefire, dpa reported. Abdrakhmanov put the talks in the context of stalled UN-backed political talks between the government and opposition due to restart on February 8 in Geneva. "I am confident Astana will create the necessary conditions for all concerned parties to find a suitable solution to the Syrian crisis under the Geneva framework," he said.
