Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation today denounced in the strongest words the terror offensive launched by Boko Haram targeting a mosque inside the premises of the University of Maiduguri, northern Nigeria, killing a number of people including a university professor and injured others. In a statement, Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, Secretary General of OIC, expressed regret of such incident targeting an educational institution, calling for concerted local, regional and international efforts to root out the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism as its poises drastic threat on the world peace and security. He expressed solidarity with Nigeria in its fight against terrorism which aims to destabilizing the state of Nigeria and the entire region, extending condolence to the families of the victims and wishing the injured a quick recovery.
