The general assembly of the Arab Gulf Journalists Union, unanimously elected Khalid Al-Malik, editor-in-chief of the Saudi newspaper of Al-Jazirah and Chairman of the Saudi Journalists Commission, as chairman of the union during elections held in the Bahraini capital of Manama today under the patronage of the minister of information of Bahrain Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi. The event was attended by representatives of journals of GCC countries and Yemen. In a statement following the meeting, Nasser bin Mohammed Al-Othman, Secretary General of the union, said that also a new secretary general and secretariat general were chosen and new projects were accredited. Bahrain plays host of the union since its inception in 2005.
