Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States, denounced a suicide bombing that targeted today a security checkpoint in Najaf, Iraq, which resulted in killing and injuring many people. In a statement issued today, the GCC Secretary General stressed that this act is a heinous crime which is incompatible with all moral and humanitarian principles and values, stressing the GCC solidarity with the Iraqi government in its efforts to combat terrorism. Al-Zayani expressed condolences to the families of the victims as well as the Iraqi government and people, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
