Kuwaiti mass media spotlighted the "historic visit" by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Kuwait later Thursday as part of a Gulf tour. According to KUNA, today's Kuwaiti newspapers have devoted much space to the first visit by the Saudi Monarch since he ascended the throne, commending it as a fresh step in a long but high-profile march of fraternal relations between both sisterly nations. In this context, Al-Qabas newspaper welcomed the Saudi King to Kuwait, saying that Kuwait and Riyadh share the same destiny. It said this common fate has been strengthened by blood and insistence on integration, citing Saudi Arabia's leading role in the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion as a relevant clear-cut paradigm. "Kuwait has been a staunch ally of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since we have the same threats and the same enemy," the Kuwaiti daily added. The Kuwaiti-Saudi relationship is a story of the common life of two peoples who have been tied by blood, religion and family bonds, it pointed out. Al-Anbaa newspaper has issued a supplement covering the Saudi leader's visit to his second home-country Kuwait and including major events in the deep fraternal relationship between both nations. In an editorial entitled: "The Decisive King...in the Heart of Kuwait", the Kuwaiti daily said the Saudi Monarch's visit constitutes a key watershed in the close and deep-rooted relationship between both nations. It added that the tour would be also a cornerstone of fresh stronger and closer ties of cooperation, communication and togetherness in all fields. The atmosphere of amity and joy for the Saudi leader's visit to this Gulf nation stems from the strong belief in its significance to efforts exerted to fulfill the ambitions and expectations of both Kuwaiti and Saudi peoples, and to prop up Gulf, Arab and Islamic cooperation and integration, it noted. Al-Rai newspaper welcomed the historic visit as an unequivocal sign of the deep brotherly relationship between both Gulf countries. Finally, Al-Nahar paper, which devoted much space to the visit of the Saudi King, believed that this tour is of paramount significance as it comes at a time when the region is locked in critical circumstances, and it stresses that it is imperative for the GCC leaders to have closer communication and consultation to address relevant challenges.
