Police raided premises used by suspected human traffickers across Germany on Wednesday, detaining six people suspected of being responsible for the drowning of 26 migrants in the Mediterranean, dpa reported. Some 300 federal police officers searched eight premises in seven different states, Federal Police headquarters in the city of Potsdam near Berlin said. The German offensive coincided with police raids in neighbouring Austria, where some 100 officers arrested seven suspects and searched seven premises.
