US citizens headed to the polls Tuesday to make their choice between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump after a long and bitter campaign, with polling now ongoing across most of the country, dpa reported. Clinton started her day by casting her vote in Chappaqua, New York, where she and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, have lived since he left office in 2001. "I know the responsibility that goes with this," she said as she greeted some 150 persons waiting at the polling station to see her. "So many people are counting on the outcome of this election and what it means for our country, and I'll do the best I can if I'm fortunate enough to win today." For his part, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has cast his ballot in New York City. The candidate arrived with his wife Melania at the polling station in the Manhattan district where he lives, pulling up in a motorcade after Secret Service agents blocked off the city street. After entering the polling station, he said, "Everything's very good," when asked what he had heard about early returns.
