The Chief Executive Officer for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), Engineer Ahmed AlIbrahim has confirmed the success of initial project on commercial exchange of energy, which was carried out by the Authority during summer of 2016 among five of the GCC member States where traded energy volumes amounted to 132,000 MW/H. This came during his participation at World Energy Conference, which its 23rd session was kicked off in Istanbul this week, indicating that the traded energy value among the GCC member States amounted to $ 127 million based on the calculation of the average energy value, while the value amounted to $ 192 million when calculated at the price during peak time.
