At least nine people buried by an avalanche in south-west China's Tibet Autonomous Region were confirmed dead on Monday, according to state media. An avalanche sent nearly-eight-metre-deep snow onto grazing land of Dongru Village in Rutog County, Ngari Prefecture on Sunday morning, Xinhua news agency cited the local government as saying. More than 350 sheep and 110 yak were also buried in the snow. Cracks have since been spotted on nearby glaciers and rescuers fear more avalanches may be triggered, Xinhua cited local sources as saying, dpa reported.
