German defence minister weathers dispute, visits Turkish air base

German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen was
visiting the Incirlik air base in southern Turkey on Friday, a visit
only made possible after Turkey's prime minister reversed a ban on her visit amid a diplomatic row, dpa reported.
Von der Leyen was visiting the 250 German troops stationed at Incirlik - a strategically important military base for the US-led coalition against the ISIS group in Iraq and Syria - and will travel to Ankara for political talks later in the day.
