The United States and its military coalition partners staged 23 strikes against Daesh in Iraq on Tuesday, the Combined Joint Task Force said. The coalition did not report any strikes in Syria. The strikes were concentrated near Falluja, Mosul, Qayyarah, and Tal Afar, the taskforce said in a statement Wednesday. The coalition is working to retake Mosul, the largest Iraqi city under the control of Daesh. In addition to Mosul, the insurgents control Raqqa and areas of territory between the two cities. The five strikes in Mosul on Tuesday hit three Daesh tactical units and destroyed one of its vehicles and a fighting position, the statement said, adding that other strikes hit near Kirkuk, Bayji, Sinjar, Kisik, Al Baghdadi, Hit, and Sultan Abdallah.
