Yemeni President Abdrabbou Mansour Hadi met in Riyadh today with UN special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Alshiekh within efforts being exerted to make Kuwait consultations between Yemeni government and Houthi militias a success. The state-run Yemeni news agency quoted President Hadi as saying during the meeting "we will go to Kuwait carrying the concerns of our people who suffered from war, siege and destruction imposed by the rebels despite their retrogression of the outcomes of the national dialogue which would have laid the foundation for a better Yemen based on justice, equality and rational rule". He expressed hope that the UN would play its role in delivering urgent relief assistance to the needy in Yemen, particularly in Taiz. For his part, Alshiekh expressed great optimism that Kuwait meeting would achieve remarkable steps towards permanent peace in the war-stricken country, urging for positive media address to mobilize efforts and direct the public opinion towards peace and consistent ceasefire.
