At least 76 people died and more than 200 were injured when a fireworks display triggered a blaze followed by explosions in a crowded southern Indian temple Sunday, dpa cited police as saying. The fire occurred at the Puttingal temple in Kerela state around 3:30 am (2215 GMT), an official at the Kollam district police control room said. The death toll could rise as several of the injured were in critical condition, and some people may still be buried under a building that collapsed on the temple premises, the official said.
