Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir stressed the need for Iran s commitment to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of the countries of the region, including the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and that Tehran must change its policies and approach if it wants to build normal relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These remarks were made by Al-Jubeir during a joint news conference with his U.S. counterpart John Kerry following the conclusion of the joint meeting of GCC Foreign Ministers and U.S. Secretary of State on Thursday. Al-Jubeir said that the meeting condemned Iran s smuggling of weapons to Houthis in Yemen. As we are trying to achieve progress in the peace process in Yemen, Iran made an attempt to smuggle weapons and explosives to Yemen, as well as its attempts to smuggle weapons and explosives to the GCC countries , Al-Jubeir added. On the other hand, Al-Jubeir pointed out that the ministerial meeting expressed support for Morocco s position on the Western Sahara issue, stressing the importance of stability and support for the Moroccan proposal to implement the autonomy and not take any action that might weaken it, which was also endorsed by the United States.
