Following the Brussels attacks, terrorist strikes on Germany are possible, dpa cited German Justice Minister Heiko Maas as saying in a newspaper report Saturday. "We shouldn't count on the fact that international terrorism will continue to avoid Germany," Maas told the Saarbruecker Zeitung. Germany has been a potential target for an attack for a long time, he said. "However: Our security forces will do everything within their power to prevent such attacks and protect the people in Germany as well as we can," Maas said. The minister called on Germans not to panic.
