German unemployment fell for the fifth consecutive month in February with the jobless rate coming in at a more-than 25-year low of 6.2 per cent, dpa reported. The numbers out of work in Europe's biggest economy dropped by a seasonally adjusted 10,000 to 2.72 million in February, the Federal Labour Agency said on Tuesday. The decline was in line with economists' forecasts. The jobless rate stands at its lowest level since German unification in 1990. "The labour market has continued to develop positively against the backdrop of moderate economic growth," labour office chief Frank-Juergen Weise said releasing the data. Falling unemployment in Germany has helped to boost private consumption in the country.
